Changes
MC Championship 16 - Update Video- GRID RUNNERS!!! (Aug 2021)
The update video,[2] introducing all the changes, was released a day prior to the event (August 27, 2021), including the introduction of a brand new game, Grid Runners.
- Introduced a new game, Grid Runners, where team races through challenge rooms in order to finish them first.
- Inspired by Noxcrew's bedrock marketplace map, Grid Runners and newly released, Grid Runners Pro.
- The coins each team will be rewarded is based on their finish placement per each room and per each completion of the race.
- If a team is stuck inside a room with no time remaining, they will only get coins prior to that point.
- Survival Games' map is changed to Millionaire's Mansions 2.
- The grace period is extended from 15 seconds to 25 seconds.
- Players can now break boats that they placed.
- Ace Race trident collision issue has been fixed.
- In exchange for this and to compensate ping issues, tridents will now auto-eject when charged fully.
- All of Ace Race's coin bonuses for finishing 1st to 19th were changed.
- 1st place went from 400 to 300 coins
- 2nd place went from 250 to 240 coins
- 3rd place went from 175 to 180 coins
- 4th-9th went from 100 to 120 coins
- 10th-14th went from 50 to 60 coins
- 15th to 19th went from 25 to 15 coins
- Battle Box's map is changed to Subway, a map from MCC 9.
- Parkour Tag now gives 7x the coin payout of the hunter’s final tag for tagging all three Runners, instead of a flat 20 coins.
- Hole in the Wall's win bonus for 1st place is now spread across top 3 places. (100 for 1st, 70 for 2nd, 30 for 3rd) If there's multiple people surviving at the end, they will still get the 1st place bonus.
- MCC Live now shows individual placements of each player on the website.

Trivia
- This MCC, many players wore lavender ribbons on their Minecraft skins to raise awareness for cancer and in support of Technoblade after his diagnosis.
- After Technoblade revealed that he had cancer, Dream said on Twitter that he would match his team's points in dollars and donate it to cancer research. His team finished in second place, earning 21,409 points.[3]
- Awesamdude and Skeppy agreed to match Dream's donation.[4][5]
- F1NN5TER and TapL agreed to donate the same amount as they each earned individually in the event.[6][7]
- Fundy donated all the proceeds from his MCC and charity stream.
- Grian said on-stream that he would be donating as well.
- The Aqua Axolotls donated $50 for every time they swore during the event.
- The event was held on fruitberries' birthday. He got a customized birthday hat and a cake in the hub.[8]
Participation
- This MCC introduced one new player, Ponk.
- InTheLittleWood and SB737 did not participate in this MCC, although InTheLittleWood was eventually invited to the Admin Stream. Solidarity, Eret and Ryguyrocky were also absent for other reasons.
- This was the first MCC ever that Kara Corvus was not present.
- This was also the first event that FalseSymmetry, Quackity and Wisp were not present since their respective debuts.
- This MCC was the first MCC where no Hermits teamed with each other.
Statistics
- This was the third overall and second straight MCC where neither PeteZahHutt nor HBomb94 were present in Dodgebolt.
- This MCC marked the first time that PeteZahHutt finished out of the top 5 individual rankings, besides MCC 15 where his internet issues led to him getting 41st.
- This also left Technoblade (although inactive) as the only player who played in multiple MCCs and never finished out of the top 10 individual rankings.
- With the Purple Pandas finishing 1st, Fruitberries is the second player ever to get into Dodgebolt on their birthday, after PeteZahHutt in MCC 3.
- However, his team missed out on the second ever 'birthday win', losing 1-3 to the Pink Parrots.
- 28 participants got a individual score over 2000, the most ever. The record was previously held by MCC 13, with 25 participants.
- This was the third event where the bottom four places (40th to 37th) were all occupied by players of the same team, the other events being MCC 8 and MCC 13.
