MC Championship 20 - Update Video- MCC Returns & Rocket Spleef Rush! (March 2022)
Before the update video, a series of tweets was released on the MC Championship's Twitter, named Operation: Floatation, telling a story behind the changes that will be made to the event.
The changes for this event were later revealed in the update video released a day before the event.[2]
- The Main Event server has been updated to Minecraft version 1.18.2.
- The Main Hub was lifted in the sky, as teased in the Operation: Floatation story.
- Individual placements will no longer show up on the scoreboard on the right side of a participants' screen, and will instead be shown on a statue in the Hall of Fame.
- There are multiple new technological decorations around the hub placed by GDL to hold up the floating islands.
- A new light show was introduced.
- You can now pet Smajor1995's dogs in the main hub.
- A new game called Rocket Spleef Rush was introduced, replacing Rocket Spleef for Season Two.
- New terrain will be generated as the game progresses, accompanied by a warning sound. After the new arena is generated, the original arena will start disintegrating, forcing the players to move to the next arena.
- The generated arenas will get smaller as time goes by. The size is based on the number of living players and time passed.
- The rocket launcher has been renamed to a Rocket Cannon and retextured to the model seen in the Operation: Floatation blueprint.
- The firework has been replaced with the new Updraft mechanic, which allows competitors to boost themselves directly upwards instead of boosting players in the direction they were aiming.
- The powerup is still only available once per round and will be taken away in the latter half of the round.
- The top 10 players will now receive a coin bonus. If multiple competitors survive in a single round, the placements will be based on the height of each surviving competitor.
- Three brand new maps are introduced: Classic, Santorini, and Journey.
- New terrain will be generated as the game progresses, accompanied by a warning sound. After the new arena is generated, the original arena will start disintegrating, forcing the players to move to the next arena.
- TGTTOSAWAF received a new map named Beehive.
- All maps that would be played in the event were revealed in the video.
- Ace Race has gone back to the Python's Crypt map.
- Parkour Tag and Sky Battle use the same maps as in MCC 19.
- Battle Box received a brand new map: Ships.
- The coral island in Big Sales at Build Mart has been replaced by a copper island for copper and oxidized copper blocks (regular and cut versions).
- Copper builds have been introduced in the rotation of builds.
- Azalea bushes and moss blocks were placed on the garden island of the map.
- One new room was added to Grid Runners, while the other 8 rooms have all been seen in previous events.
- MCC Live introduced light mode, a switch to toggle particles, a button to manually check for updates to the website, and a data delay setting to allow viewers to synchronize their stream and the website so they can see the results of a game come in as the game ends instead of seeing them too early.
