MC Championship 23 was the twenty-eighth event of MC Championship. It took place on July 23, 2022, at 7 PM GMT (8 PM BST). This event featured a redesigned version of Ace Race.

Changes

MC Championship 23 - Update Video- Ace Race And Islands! (July 2022)

The update video was released a day prior to the event, focusing on the re-coded Ace Race game and mechanics as well as brand new maps.

• As per Technoblade's passing, a monument is created dedicated to him in the Main Hub.
• Rocket Spleef Rush got a brand new map, Temple.
• Grid Runners got 3 brand new rooms.
• Ace Race has been recoded and introduced some new mechanics and changes:
  • A brand new map, Turtle Run, is introduced in this event with the new changes.
    • For this map, players do four laps, rather than three.
  • Throughout the map, there are now visual checkpoints. Items and buffs are now designated at some checkpoints, and will be taken away later.
    • These checkpoints will now communicate whether you gain time or lose time.
  • Elytras will now have to be triggered manually, and will be taken away when a player lands.
  • Green jump pads are introduced, which launches the player more vertically.
  • Slow fields are introduced, slowing down the players.
  • Aqua Jets are introduced, boosting the players in a specific direction when touched.
  • Moving walls are introduced in a part of the new map.
• Big Sales at Build Mart's central platform has now changed with animated fans and an easier way to enter the build area.
• TGTTOSAWAF's Terra Swoop Force - Tunnel 2, Badlands, Beehive, Shallow Lava, Industry, and Pit are to be featured in this event.
• Sky Battle's map is changed back to Medieval.
• Meltdown doors are now thickened, to prevent an exploit found last time the game was played.
• Survival Games's map is changed back to City Living.

Trivia

• For this event, the Noxcrew and the players participated in various acts to raise awareness for cancer and in honor of former participant Technoblade after he passed away from Sarcoma.
  • Similar to MCC 16, most of the players wore lavender/yellow ribbons and/or a crown on their Minecraft skins during the tournament.
  • Two people confirmed that the Technoblade monument mentioned in this MCC's update video was built on the MCC server as a tribute: Noctis_Mori via the MCC Discord Server and Smajor1995 via a conversation with Ph1LzA before the event.
• This is the first event since MCC 10 in which neither Sapnap, Dream, GeorgeNotFound, Fruitberries, or Illumina were in a Dodgebolt.

Participation

• This event introduced aimsey to the main roster after participating in MCC R and MCC P22.
  • CrankGameplays dropped out of the event, making aimsey the only one who got welcomed back to the event under the main roster.
  • This event also introduced F1NN5TER back to the tournament who has not participated in an event since MCC AS.
• This event was the first regular event that did not have any new players.
• This will be the first event that Tubbo, awesamdude and Purpled missed since their respective debuts in MCC 9, MCC 18 and MCC 20.
• Before the team announcements, some players have stated their absences for this event.
  • Fruitberries confirmed in a stream that he did not sign up since he was not feeling it.
  • GeminiTay mentioned on her stream that she did not sign up, as there would be a friend (later revealed to be TheOrionSound) visiting her at the time, and that she may also be possibly moving during that time as well.
  • Grian mentioned at the end of MCC P22 that he would be going to Ghana and might miss the event.
• This event is the second one where Antfrost did not participate on an Aqua-colored team, after MCC 15.
• This event featured a highly requested player duo of "PhilZahHutt" (Ph1LzA and PeteZahHutt).
• With Shubble being on the Red Rabbits, she is the third person to be in all 10 team colours in the event.

Statistics

• This is currently the tournament where the lowest amount of points individually was scored, with CrankGameplays scoring only 90 coins, as he did not participate in the event, but still got the coins from his team's placement coins in Survival Games.
