MC Championship 28 was the thirty-third event of MC Championship. It took place on December 3, 2022, at 8 PM GMT. This event was the last event for Season 2. This event is also festive-themed.

Changes

MC Championship 28 - Update Video- Winter is here! (Minecraft Event)

The update video was released a day prior to the event, focusing on the festive theme of the event, as well as new maps in the event, and some tweaks to Parkour Warrior.

• The Main Hub as well as all the games had been decorated to match the festive theme of the event.
• The presents giving hub minigame was back from MCC 13 and MCC 19, allowing player to give and receive presents that could influence the Decision Dome.
  • New gifts were introduced: Toy Chicken (a static chicken vote), Drum (throws chickens up into the air), and a Glass of Eggnog.
• The Decision Dome remix was brought back from MCC 13 and MCC 19.
• Some of the sound effects have been changed to festive-themed sound effects, most notably, the "acquired" sound effects being clearer.
• A brand new Ace Race map was introduced: Yeti Set Go!.
• Festive maps for Rocket Spleef Rush and Sky Battle were introduced.
• In the last 2 minutes, the teleportation scroll in Parkour Warrior would be removed for the final section, forcing players to stick with their choice at the end.
• Scorings for metal medals in Parkour Warrior were adjusted, now corresponding with the amount of medals obtained, instead of a flat score per medal.
• Sands of Time was renamed back to "Snows of Time" with its snow-themed map.
• Snowball mittens were used as the frost bow in Meltdown for this event. The players frozen would now be snowmen instead of ice cubes.
• Battle Box map was changed back to Santa's Slay.
• TGTTOSAWAF introduced two new festive maps: Polar Passing and Santa's Train.
  • Terra Swoop Force - Tunnel 2, Cliff?, and Boats were featured for the game, however, one other map was undisclosed before the event.
• Grid Runners received a brand new room, as well as adjustments to other rooms.
• Dodgebolt was renamed to "Snowbolt", with the use of gloves and snowballs instead of bows and arrows.

Trivia

• On the day of the games announcement (November 30, 2022), Noxcrew announced their first drop of MC Championship merch, with 3 initial items: Team Mascots Rainbow Shirt, Decision Dome Blueprint Shirt, and Team Mascot Holiday Hangers.
• Multiple technical issues happened during the event:
  • After Parkour Warrior and Ace Race, the server became offline, kicking all participants as well as the spectators.
  • Punz and Sylvee had some lag spikes in Battle Box
  • Multiple players suffered from lag issues in round 3 of Meltdown. Some were disconnected in the game.

Participation

• As this was the festive event, multiple participants had to choose whether to play in this event or the Halloween event.
• Before the team announcements, some players have stated their absences for this event
  • ElainaExe did not sign up for this event.
  • Wilbur Soot did not sign up due to a Lovejoy concert happening on the same day. This was the first regular event that he missed after participating in the tournament since MCC 1.
• Before the event started, TapL mentioned being in place of Sapnap, due to Sapnap being unable to participate in the event at the time due to being in Antarctica with Dream, George, and the MrBeast crew.
• This event welcomed back bekyamon who last participated in MCC R.
• This was the first event that Foolish Gamers missed since his debut in MCC 22.

Statistics

• The Teal Turkeys continued their streak of getting to Dodgebolt and winning every festive event.
  • They are the second winning team consisting of previous winners.
  • Punz (MCC 13) and Sneegsnag (MCC 19) both of whom were on the same team in previous festive events, were on the team again.
• The Ginger Breadmen became the fourth team to have a flawless Battle Box (winning all 9 rounds and getting 36/36 possible kills).
• SolidarityGaming pulled off the fourth ever 1v3 in the final round of Snowbolt.
• Illumina achieved several records this event.
  • He got the kill record in Battle Box, with 21.
  • He aced 4 teams, the most yet in a game of Battle Box.
  • He survived and won all 3 rounds of Sky Battle.
  • He placed in the top 3 in 6/8 games, or every game that did not split coins between the team.
• This is only the second time where the winning team didn't have any players placing top 5, the first time it happened was in MCC 14.
• This event has the largest difference in coins separating 1st and 40th place in Season 2, with a total of 3,335 coins between the two. This surpasses the previous record of 3,262 coins set in MCC 27.
