MC Championship 29 was the thirty-fourth event of MC Championship. It took place on March 18, 2023, at 8 PM GMT. This event is the first event of Season 3.

Changes

MC Championship 29 - MCC Season 3 Begins!

The update video was released a day prior to the event, focusing on polishing the viewer's experience in the event, graphical changes and new content for the event.

• More advertisements boards are added, now also promoting more of MCC Live website, as the way to track players' scores live.
  • In addition, the website is updated to allow users to view past scorings as well as past games' coins information in the same event.
• In all games and the Main Hub, the interfaces have been updated to improve viewers' experience in the tournament, from the event progress bar in the Main Hub, to other gimmicks, including Grid Runners room indicator, Sands of Time player statuses, and more.
• Statistics are no longer shown in the Hall of Fame to prepare for an upcoming change towards them. All winners NPCs are also removed because of this.
  • As mentioned in the admin stream, there are now 100+ statistics (i.e. fastest hunting time in Parkour Tag, fastest completion per room in Grid Runners) being tracked starting from this event. Statistics from Season 1 and Season 2 are now considered as "legacy statistics".
• Player introductions are now shown prior to the start of the event. Each team will have around a couple of seconds to introduce themselves to the event, during the countdown.
• In the Decision Dome, the game logos are now animated as well as the multiplier monitor being polished. Those game logos are also shown as well when the games are being introducing to the dome.
  • When two or more games are tied, the tied games are now lit up as well before a game is decided.
• At the beginning of each game, logos for each game will now be shown at the beginning. These logos would match ones that are on MCC Island.
• Battle Box is changed back to Graffiti. In addition, this map introduces a brand new block, Construction Blocks, replacing leaves from the original map. They can be quickly broken by hand, or even quicker with a pickaxe.
• Grid Runners scoring has changed, with scoring now ranged from 55 coins to 500 coins. Three new rooms are introduced in this game.
• Sky Battle got a brand new map, Metro. In addition, kills now award 30 coins instead of 50. Team placement scoring is also introduced at the end of each round.
• TGTTOSAWAF gets 2 new maps, Skyscraper and Spiral Climb. Four other maps (Terra Swoop Force - Tunnel 2, To The Dome!, Industry, and Badlands (TGTTOS)) are not disclosed prior to the event.
• At the end of the eighth game, the final duelists for Dodgebolt are now announced before the current event standings are displayed.
• The countdown at the beginning of the event is now 2 minutes and 30 seconds instead of 2 minutes, to accommodate the team introductions.
• Various backend changes are added to handle unexpected conditions in the tournament. This includes mechanics such as resetting games, voiding games, switching games, etc.

Trivia

• This event saw a rebranding of the tournament, with the logo being changed to distinguished more away from the Minecraft branding, as well as the background image being the same to ones used on the MCC Merch website introduced last event.
• This event marks the first events with back to back 1v3's, as SolidarityGaming had pulled one off in MCC 28.
• Sapnap was the only player without a team skin in this event for the first half of the event. He would put on one later during the break.
• During the last round of Sky Battle, Tubbo's character accidentally walked off the map. While he said that this is not caused by him, the exact reasons are currently unknown.
• The Aqua Axolotls winning this event continues a 3 year tradition, wherein the first event of every year the Aqua Axolotls will go on to win the event
  • HBomb94 was also on each of the 3 teams

Participation

• Prior to team announcements, Smajor1995 confirmed that Tubbo will be in the event after describing his team.
• Before the team announcements, several players have stated their absences for this event.
  • Illumina did not sign up for this event due to going to Japan.
  • TommyInnit did not sign up for this event due to wanting to give the tournament a break for one event.

Statistics

• The Aqua Axolotls are the first winners without any players that placed in the top 10.
• This event made FalseSymmetry the first ever female 4-time winner.
• Purpled broke the record for the highest individual placement on a 10th place team with 3rd place, previously held by fruitberries in MCC 14 with 6th place.
• Both of these records happened in the first events of season 2 and 3 of the tournament.
• This MCC had the smallest coin difference ever between two teams, with 1 coin separating the Lime Llamas (3rd) and the Orange Ocelots (4th).
  • This surpassed the 2 coin difference between the Orange Ocelots (2nd) and the Pink Parrots (3rd) in MCC P21.
• This event's team scores are not the same as the event scores when they are recalculated. The event scores (ones that are recalculated and shown in each game) are correct. The team scores, however, are incorrect. The team scores are left up above as to match the ones displayed officially. The corrections are as follows:
