MC Championship 9 was the ninth event of MC Championship. It took place at 8PM BST on September 12, 2020. This event introduced Sky Battle, an alternative, faster-paced version of Skyblockle that would replace it.

Changes

MC Championship 9 - Update Video- Sky Battle (September 2020)

The update video, was released a day before the event, focusing on the new PVP game, Sky Battle.

• Introduced a new game, Sky Battle, that would replace Skyblockle. The game is a elimination-based three-round game, focusing on PVP.
• Added a Subway-themed Battle Box map
• Added a brand new Rocket Spleef map
• Visual updates to the Decision Dome, now showing the score for each segment in the dial.
• Adjustment to the sand timer in Sands of Time, clearly now showing where to put sand in the timer.
• Players who got disconnected in elimination-based games would now spawn a NPC of them in place, until they are back or eliminated.
• Parkour Warrior got new updates, making some obstacles harder.
• A new sumo-style minigame in the hub.

Trivia

• This was the first event to not feature Big Sales at Build Mart since it was introduced.
• The Pink Parrots agreed to buy lordships for themselves if they placed 8th or higher in the team standings. They placed 8th and each member bought a title representing their accomplishment in that event.
  • Grian bought the title of 'Lord Grian Dreamslayer' because of his triple kill on Dream and his teammates in Survival Games.
  • Smallishbeans bought the title of 'Lord Joel Jumperman' because he made it the furthest in his team in Parkour Warrior.
  • SolidarityGaming bought the title of 'Lord Timmy Top Placer' because he placed 27th individually, the highest in his team.
  • InTheLittleWood bought the title of 'Lord Martyn Moneymaker' because he had banked the most coins in his team in Sands of Time.
• The Blue Bats were the first winning team with all of the players wearing a team skin.
• Because Quig crashed after he finished Ace Race, he got back into the game out of spectator mode. This caused the game to go on for a couple more seconds after F1NN5TER finished in last place.

Participation

• Three new players joined this event: F1NN5TER, Spifey, and Tubbo.
• This was the first event where King Burren and Michaelmcchill were not present.
• This event's teams announcement is the first one to be done only in a day.
  • The teams announcement order is also decided by the MCC Discord, without knowing the teams beforehand.

Statistics

• FalseSymmetry and Rendog were the first Hermitcraft members to win an MCC.
• In Survival Games, Grian got a triple kill on the Lime Llamas, killing Dream, Tubbo and Fundy. This started the 'Lord Grian Dreamslayer' meme in the MCC community.
• The Blue Bats completed the first ever reverse sweep in Dodgebolt against the Green Guardians.
• During the second round of Dodgebolt, the two teams shot at each other and missed 12 shots in a row.
• In this tournament, HBomb94 gained his 3rd win, making him the only player to have achieved this feat until PeteZahHutt in MCC 10.
