MC Championship - Season 4 Kick-Off Update Video

The update video[2] was released a day prior to the event, focusing on new Season 4 additions and core changes to some of the games and the event.

General Changes

  • The event now uses the new game engine from MCC Island.
    • The game announcement chat messages are now mainly light blue instead of white, except for the Decision Dome.
    • Game icons are now also indicated besides each game announcement chat message.
    • Team placements ties are now indicated clearly in the scoreboard.
  • The Main Hub is now re-located to a jungle island, and received significant changes.
    • The main beach area is now gated, and is accessible only during event times.
    • Designated build stages for teams are introduced. Players can now log on to the server to build their stages before the event. These are featured in the team introductions, and will be featured in the The Walk of Fame and the Hall of Fame, if they win.
    • A Sumo minigame and a Dodgebolt practice area are introduced to the server.
    • The Hall of Fame got a brand-new design, and is now accessible before the event.
    • The elevators in the Decision Dome have been removed.
  • As with the event being held on May 4th, all swords are "light swords".
  • A "Kudos" system is now implemented. At the end of each game, a message will appear for each player, if they do well in certain statistics of each game, including records.
  • Tutorial screens are introduced, explaining each game before each game. This replaced the long tutorial texts at the beginning of each game.
  • The elimination graphics now indicate the team icon and the player icon (if Noxesium is installed) besides the eliminated player, instead of just colour.
  • The countdown at the beginning of the event is increased from 2 minutes and 30 seconds to 4 minutes. This is to accommodate the new team introductions feature.
  • MCC Live got a new predictions system, where viewers can predict on which team comes out on top in each game and the event. The prediction with the most votes and the percentage of the correct prediction are reported in-game.

Game Changes and Maps Featured

  • Added a new game, Railroad Rush, a team-based puzzle game.
  • TGTTOSAWAF got a brand new map. Basins, Siege, and To The Dome! will also be returning for this event's maps' roster.
  • Battle Box got a brand new map, Spaceship.
    • Bonus items are now "kits", where players choose their own classes with additional items, in a similar sense to MCC Island. There are five kits available.
    • Some MCC Island items such as sparks and orbs are now introduced for this map.
    • In addition, the round summary is removed from the game.
  • Hole in the Wall's map is changed back to Fishbowl.
    • Returning walls and fakeout walls from MCC Island can now appear in the game.
  • Rocket Spleef Rush's Area 51 and Temple are featured in this event's maps roster.
    • The elytra durability mechanic from MCC Island is now implemented, where players must land on the arena to top up the elytra's durability.
    • Players can attack other players' elytra durability, beginning at 50% at the start of each round.
    • Islands now have overlays displayed when they are spawning.
    • Players are now given two updrafts instead of one.
    • Kill coins are now increased from 10 to 30. Survival coins are decreased from 3 to 2.
  • Ten new puzzle rooms are added in rotation for Sands of Time.
  • Sky Battle's map is changed back to Metro, with a minor change in the centre of the map to improve traversal and combat of the map.
    • The "Overtime" system is introduced for the game, where players will continuously get border damage towards the end of the game.
  • Bingo but Fast's map is changed to Coral Bay.
    • This map introduces a map, indicating the land and ocean portions of the map.
    • A "Coral Pickaxe" is added, with a Silk Touch enchantment.

Trivia

  • This event is the first event to not follow the numbering system for regular events.

Participation

  • This event featured 6 newcomers: ChilledChaos, Feinberg, SmallAnt, Skizzleman, TangoTek and Xisumavoid.
  • This event introduced iskall85 back to the tournament from MCC 5. With this, he had set the record for the longest gap between events, until iJevin comeback appearances in MCC HH since MCC 1.
    • In addition, this event introduced fWhip back to the tournament from MCC 21, after having only participating in MCC AF as his only event last season. The reason he were not in prior events was due to connection issues he had during his time in the previous events.
